Meeting 1142 on July 20th 2016

Fellow Toastmasters and most welcomed guests here is your meeting recap in case you missed out!

The gavel dropped at 7:00PM PST, in true 280 fashion we are always on time. I can only assume based on our track record, however, I don't know for sure because I was at the salad bar... tisk tisk.

The topic for the evening was business trips! I would like to mention that Richard Casriel, our VPE, did our tabletopics session on the fly and while battling a cold. What a trooper! Also, everyone had an opportunity to answer a question!

The word of the day was ductile. I heard some great uses of the word. Terri mentioned her brothers would tie her up with ductile tape when she was younger. Can you find ductile tape on Amazon?!

On to the speeches. Ron gave an awesome speech about the beginning of his packing trip and how some of his concerns began to materialize. He definitely left us on a cliff hanger and hopefully Kelso didn't fall off! I know I speak for everyone when I say I can't wait to hear the ending. Kevin bragged about his yearly pilgrimage to Boston to see his family (totally jealous). I hope you give a speech about how much fun you had on your trip. Lastly, Terri gave a speech about children. We learned why the oldest doesn't trust their parents, how kids know their parents will give in, and why the youngest always calls for mom. I think we may have gotten a sneak peak of her humorous speech for the contest this Fall.

Our meeting ended with awards and our Poet Laureate, Ethan Davis. He shared one of his favorite Shel Silverstein poems, one I had never heard before, "Smart".

Thank you to all the members that stepped us this week to take on roles they weren't assigned. Thank you to everyone that joined us and I hope to see everyone next week! '

P.S. Our humorous speech and evaluations contest will be coming up soon. If you are interested in helping out or competing let our Sgt. at Arms, Cameron White, know!
